Can the mistakes of the past

Ever be fixed

Can we overcome ourselves

To find that something we missed

This body’s wrecked

The joints ache

The muscles burn

The mind teeters

On the head of a pin

It wobbles but stands

But for how long

A pleasant view

I wonder when the world ends

If I’ll be there to see

The mountains crumble into dust

The sky bursting at the seams

I have a place all prepped to go

With a pleasant view

A cigar, fine wine, and place to dine

In case my dream comes true

Take away the cars
The boats and the planes
Clear out the buildings
Roads and the trains
Give it about
A decade or so
Then marvel at the beauty
That can finally grow

True Love

True love comes round

But once in this life

If you choose not to cherish it

You’ll find eternal strife

I know this is fact

As it happened to me

This fool didn’t realize

How good it could be

He tossed it aside

Again and again

Until it wouldn’t come back

True sorrow came then

For which there’s no cure

Though time numbs the pain

But it shows it was pure

The love was I mean

I’ll cherish those memories

Keep them locked up inside

I’ll never release them

Even after I die

This manor keeps crumbling

My repairs aren’t enough

To do more than delay

The inevitable collapse

Holding up two walls

While the rest creak and sway

The roof falling in pieces

With each gust of fates wind

Someday, likely soon

The fall will arrive

The manor will cave in

Fragment then die
